Wood Borer Treatment

Wood Borer Control Treatment

Wood borers are commonly found in untreated or unfinished wood products. The larvae bore through the wood and can cause extensive damage to wooden furniture inside your home.

A typical sign of infestation is the presence of numerous fine holes with fine, powdery sawdust falling out.

Infestation in finished wood means that the insect was already present in the wood as an egg or larva; emerging adults usually re-infest by laying eggs in their own exit holes.

Common types in India

  • Powderpost Beetle - Known for reducing wood to a fine powder; targets hardwoods like furniture and flooring.
  • Common Furniture Beetle - Attacks softwood furniture; leaves small round exit holes and fine dust.
  • Lyctus Beetle - Infests wood with high starch content; typically found in newly manufactured wood items.
  • Bamboo Borer - Targets bamboo structures and furniture; prevalent in humid regions.
Wood borer infestations can severely weaken wooden structures and furniture, leading to costly repairs and replacements.
